COMPARISON WITH llULTIDIMENSIONAL SCALING

چکیده
A method of hierarchical clustering for relational data is presented, which begins by forming a new square matrix of productmoment correlations between the columns (or rows) of the original data (represented as an n x m matrix). Iterative application of this simple procedure will in general converge to a matrix which may be permuted into the blocked form [_~ -~J. This convergence property may be used as the basis of an algorithm (CONCOR) for hierarchical clustering. The CONCOR procedure is applied to several illustrative sets of social network data and is found to give results which are highly compatible with analyses and interpretations of the same data using the blockmodel approach of White (in press). The results using CONCOR are then compared with results obtained using alternative methods of clustering and scaling (MDSCAL. INDSCAL. HICLUS. ADCLUS) on the same data sets. ,

Scaling and Fractal Concepts in Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity: Comparison of Some Models
Measurement of soil saturated hydraulic conductivity, Ks, is normally affected by flow patterns such as macro pore; however, most current techniques do not differentiate flow types, causing major problems in describing water and chemical flows within the soil matrix. This study compares eight models for scaling Ks and predicted matrix and macro pore Ks, using a database composed of 50 datasets...
متن کاملEstimating IDF based on daily precipitation using temporal scale model
The intensity –duration –frequency (IDF) curves play most important role in watershed management, flood control and hydraulic design of structures. Conventional method for calculating the IDF curves needs hourly rainfall data in different durations which is not extensively available in many regions. Instead 24-hour precipitation statistics were measured in most rain-gauge stations. In this stud...
متن کاملSurvey of corrosion and scaling potential in drinking water resources of the villages in Qom province by use of four stability indexes (With Quantitative and qualitative analysis
Background & Aims of the Study: Corrosion and scaling are the most common problems of water facilities. Corrosion imposes many financial and health loss on system and consumer respectively, scaling also causes clogging and head loss in network. The purpose of this study is to determine the corrosion and scaling potential of water supply sources of Qom villages. Materials &...
متن کاملContours Extraction Using Line Detection and Zernike Moment
Most of the contour detection methods suffers from some drawbacks such as noise, occlusion of objects, shifting, scaling and rotation of objects in image which they suppress the recognition accuracy. To solve the problem, this paper utilizes Zernike Moment (ZM) and Pseudo Zernike Moment (PZM) to extract object contour features in all situations such as rotation, scaling and shifting of object i...
متن کاملUsing Multidimensional Scaling for Assessment Economic Development of Regions
Addressing socio-economic development issues are strategic and most important for any country. Multidimensional statistical analysis methods, including comprehensive index assessment, have been successfully used to address this challenge, but they donchr('39')t cover all aspects of development, leaving some gap in the development of multidimensional metrics. The purpose of the study is to const...
